A recessed model is chosen before the tiling. GLÖD, on the other hand, arrives when the bathroom is finished: a slim column, five bars, and nothing that looks like a radiator.

The installation

Two mounting options, two ways to connect it

GLÖD attaches at two points: at the top of the column and behind the control panel. You just have to decide where the power supply is located and which side you want the column on.

With plug
The cable runs from the control unit down to your wall outlet. No modifications to the wall are required.
Concealed wiring
The power supply comes through the wall, right behind the control panel: no visible wiring.
Column on the left or right
The bars open on the opposite side of the column: choose according to your outlet and the direction of travel.

The plumber's advice

Before ordering, check where the power will come from at the intended location: a nearby socket or a cable outlet in the wall.

In the bathroom, the permitted location depends on the safety zones around the shower and bath. Have your electrician confirm it; they will also carry out the connection using concealed wiring on a protected circuit.

Installation

Installation in four steps, on a finished wall

No bleeding, no need to redo the tiling: GLÖD attaches just like a towel rail.

Locate the position
Mark the two mounting points, perfectly level, within reach of your power outlet or cable exit.
Drill and insert wall plugs
Two holes, with wall plugs suitable for your wall: tile, drywall, brick or concrete.
Fix the towel warmer
Place it on its two brackets, check that it is level, then tighten.
Plug in and set up
For a socket installation, simply plug it in. For concealed wiring, connection is carried out by an electrician.

The bars are open on one side: the towel slides on in one motion and spreads across the full width. It dries flat, and you’ll find it warm when you get out of the shower.

Good to know

From 40 to 60 °C, the bars warm the towels without damaging them. At the maximum temperature, the metal is hot to the touch: lower the setting if young children use the bathroom.

For maintenance, a soft cloth and soapy water are sufficient.

Ce serait vraiment bien si vous pouviez inclure du ruban adhésif ou de l'adhésif puissant, afin qu'il puisse être utilisé dans des endroits où il n'est pas possible de percer des trous.

Everything you need to know before ordering

Is any work required to install it?

No. GLÖD is mounted in two places on a finished wall, like a towel rail: two drill holes are enough. In the “with socket” version, you plug it into an existing socket. In the “concealed wiring” version, it connects to a cable outlet located behind the control panel.

With an outlet or concealed wiring: which should you choose?

With the plug option, installation is straightforward: the cable runs from the control unit to your wall socket. With concealed wiring, no cables are visible, but you will need a power supply pre-installed in the wall at the control unit’s location and an electrician to carry out the connection. Please indicate your choice above the purchase button.

Column on the left or right: how to choose?

The column houses the control unit and the electrical connection; the bars open on the opposite side. Place the column on the side of your outlet or cable outlet, and keep the open side of the bars where you reach to take a towel.

Where can it be placed in the bathroom?

GLÖD is protected against water splashes (IPX4). Its location must comply with the safety clearances specified around the shower and bathtub, and it must be powered by a protected circuit. Have an electrician approve the location, especially if you want it near the shower.

How many towels can fit in it?

Two or three bath towels, spaced one bar apart so they can dry without overlapping, or five small towels. The bars are nearly 50 cm long: a bath towel can be folded in half and placed on one.

Can it heat the bathroom?

No, that is not its purpose. With 65 W, GLÖD warms and dries your towels. To heat the volume of the room, keep a suitable heater.

How much does it consume?

65 W at most, or 0.13 kWh for two hours of heating: a few cents worth of electricity.

How does it differ from RIÖ, our built-in model?

RIÖ is recessed into the wall before tiling: only the bars are visible. GLÖD is installed on a finished wall, with a visible column. Your bathroom is finished: choose GLÖD. You are in the middle of a renovation: RIÖ is made for this.

How to maintain the finishes?

A soft cloth and soapy water are all you need. Avoid abrasive or corrosive products, which are not covered by the warranty.

What is the warranty?

GLÖD is guaranteed for 2 years against manufacturing and conformity defects. Improper installation or use is not covered.

Can I return it if it doesn't fit?

Yes, you have 30 days after receipt. The product must be returned uninstalled, complete, and in its original packaging. View the returns policy.
